This year we are bringing four of our most technically refined developments — materials that answer the specific challenges of stretch, structure, breathability, and weight that today's performance brands are navigating.

Mechanical Stretch

True mechanical stretch in a trim is not simply about adding elastane. SHINDO's mechanical stretch tapes and ribbons are engineered through construction — the elongation comes from the geometry of the weave or knit itself, delivering recovery and durability without compromising hand feel or long-term performance.

For activewear brands concerned about material composition declarations, laundering behaviour, or the transition to mono-material design, mechanically stretch constructions open new possibilities. Available in both tape and ribbon formats.

Knit Structure

Where woven trims can introduce stiffness at seam edges and facing zones, knit-structure trims carry the softness of the construction through to hand and drape. The range spans narrow flat trims through to three-dimensional options, each engineered for compatibility with the technical fabrics they sit alongside.

Construction varies by application — you will find options suited to bonding, sewing, or ultrasonic welding.

Ribs

Cuffs, waistbands, collars, hem finishes — the rib trim is one of the most repeated decisions in any performance garment, and it is one SHINDO has spent decades refining. The rib range at Performance Days spans weights, gauges, and fibre combinations, with a focus on consistent recovery, colour fidelity, and seam compatibility.

Thin, Breathable, Lightweight Ventilation

The most technically interesting work we are showing this season sits in ventilation structures. Open-knit tapes and mesh-construction trims designed to enhance airflow at strategic points in a garment — underarm panels, back seam zones, hood channels — while maintaining structural integrity.

These are narrow constructions. The engineering challenge is not openness — it is achieving meaningful breathability in a trim format that holds its edge, stays stable under tension, and finishes well at the cut.
